Gift of Life Ministries, Inc, is a small nonaligned volunteer Christian organization. It is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 1982. Its board of directors and officers receive no salaries or personal expenses. This enables us to maximize donations directly to areas of need that are not being met by other larger organizations.
During the early 1980’s, we sheltered unaccompanied children and adolescent refugees who arrived in South Texas to escape the wars in Central America, assisting many of them to resettle temporarily with relatives in other states while they awaited immigration appointments.
Our current focus is assisting Ukrainian refugees and orphans. We help support an orphanage in Chernivtsi that was relocated to Western Ukraine. It houses, feeds and educates about 90 children.
We also send aid to two refugee transition centers, one in Zaporizhia and the other in Izmail. Both centers feed and house over 100 refugees each night as many of them wait to cross into Romania.
Oleksii sold his family car and bought a van and trailer in order to deliver food to the needy families in the small villages surrounding Kyiv. These villages were bombed and occupied by Russian troops who have now moved on to Eastern Ukraine leaving the people in great need. The larger relief organizations are not active in these smaller villages.
As refugees arrive in the Spokane, WA area, we work with other community groups in locating temporary housing with families as well as helping collect furniture, household items and basic supplies. Spokane has a large welcoming Ukraine population to help the refugees adapt to the area.
